I've been thinking, but if there's any silver lining to this game's success despite the controversy, it's that the seeds of discontent have been planted on a larger scale then ever before. While some would argue that they've been planted since Gen V/VI (depending on who you ask), it took this particular game for backlash to start becoming truly noticeable in the public eye.

While sales might have not been affected this gen, if Game Freak continue going down the path of releasing titles with less content each gen and not giving the fans what they want, the backlash will continue to grow louder and louder with each subsequent release, with more and more voices joining in the choir, that it will start hurting the franchise's reputation in the public eye, at which point Game Freak/TPC will have no choice but to change course and start making better games if they don't want to become like Sonic.

Difference is twofold - SS has already outperformed LGPE by virtue of selling 224,881 more copies in a much shorter timeframe (Q3 report after launch had it at about 2m Jp total) and there were many people who wouldn't have bought LGPE as it wasn't the pokémon game they wanted (not being a proper core game).
There's also the fact the Switch sold absolute gangbusters again this Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales period and Sword and Shield would absolutely have been the reason why in some cases and got picked up as a result of Switch selling so well.

From what I've heard, Gamefreak was given four years to produce SwSh. Realistically, they have no excuse for the games to be as subpar as they are. But even that isn't the case, it's still not good regardless. Having gamefreak churning out games yearly will be detrimental. It will be like Star Wars with fans eventually becoming sick of it due to the continual drop in quality and overexposure.

This was their best opportunity to use a delay and the mobile games to introduce things while delaying.

Before this game came out most people knew it was going to sell. Only the most delusional people thought it wouldn’t. The dexcut is bad, but it’s not even the worst problem with the game.
Oh and people need to account for China if they end up getting the games, that’s millions of extra potential games sold, particularly for Chinese New Year since that’s when they go on their buying sprees. So after Christmas you have another bunch of sales potential for these games.

now this why I have a problem with you guys, you critizise it overly negatively and agressively so it gets pretty annoying, personally I think there are tons of problems with swsh but because I actually like few things about the games, you guys start flinging shit instead of discussing about the problems like a normal human being and refuse to acnowledge that not everything is bad in swsh.

Not true, people are harshly criticizing Fallout and people are listening more so than the actual fucking company itself. That “overly negative” phrase is in reference to the fact this is the most negative blow back Pokémon has ever seen in a while, nothing to do with the people themselves criticizing it. People only criticize it harshly because they want change.

It doesn't help attacking fans who legitimately like Sword and Shield on 4chan of all places. For Fallout 76 there is a lot of criticism against the company through a lot of big channels on Youtube that detail the negatives in a concise matter. Contrast with Pokemon, a lot of the same channels do not cover it at the same degree as the Fallout 76 situation. I think many still see Pokemon as that "kid franchise" and don't think much of it.

Never said it does, users on 4chan will attack anyone. But I’m not one of the attackers.

That’s also part of the reason why people also complain. Nobody else is helping precisely point out the issues. Just people peer pressuring each other into not liking or liking the game. There are people literally doing 180s on their initial thoughts of the game only because of people getting upset over their criticism.
