>>41879486Unfortunately I've had onigiri made by actual Japanese people several times that were made of nothing but rice and looked exactly like the OP image. They were honestly just literal balls of rice with a strip of seaweed.
But I'm in the US and they were just being handed out for free, so they were probably cheap lame ones. I mean, I'm aware they are often filled with stuff but apparently they do make/eat ones of the literal "rice ball" variety too.
