For what purpose? Working with a maquette like this is to help understand scale and organize complex structures within limited space. This game goes out of it's way to disregard scale and the entire Wild Area is composed of imprecise natural structures. And even with all that in mind, working at this size is completely superfluous.

There's some programmer at Game Freak who never figured out basic math, and he's been working there since Red and Blue. It's astounding.
The exact same shitty coding is why moves with 100% accuracy in that game can miss, and it happens every couple games to this day.

On my walk just yesterday I went under a bridge where pigeons tend to roost. There's a patch of forest nearby where you can find debris left from children building forts. In my old home there was a field bordering a diverse forest with a rocky outcrop and a gigantic maple tree. Nothing is ever that black and white. That's just the shit in reality. When you're dealing with a virtual medium you can create almost anything. What if there were a large, old crater left from fallen space debris, and various minerals growing from the sides? Rock types and space themed Pokemon could live there.
I thought that up in less than a minute.

I can’t read moon-runes.
Did they actually use a diorama to model it out, or did the just use the digital model and one of a dozen fabrication techniques to make a physical copy. Because I’ve seen architecture students do the latter and it’s not excessively hard to do, but the former is just kind of dumb and might actually take longer then doing it without.

They're trying to appeal to a broader audience, and watering down their formula. They think their current playerbase is locked in and will always buy the games, and lets be honest, this game is largely proving that right. Hardcore Pokefans will buy it no matter how terrible it is, kids don't give a shit, and nostalgiafags don't have the time to invest into catching every Pokemon or raising a competitive team, so making those things more accessible is a bonus for them.

At this point, those fans who want the old style back are probably shit out of luck. They've shown that purging the dex isn't a sales killer, so I wouldn't doubt if 500 or so is the biggest the games will ever be again.

10 routes and the wild zone? Apparently perfectly fine. Sw/Sh 2 could add a second themed wild zone of some sort and another town and people would be super excited. Slap another 100 Pokemon into the games, some new legends, more fights with Hop, and its straight to the bank.

to everyone complaining that they wasted money on this, its that uncommon of a practice when coming with the concept of major area in a game that they'll make a large scale model of it to help with getting a better idea of it, they did the same thing when making Xenoblade. With how big that wild area model is, it was probably made pretty early in development before Captain Crunch paid a visit.

We could have entrances for caves, Motostoke's sewer and ruins all over the place. An abandoned factory somehere in the wild area even.

Because the diorama in pic related is still loads better than what's actually in the game
And it feels like they put more effort into stuff like this than the actual game
Come to think of it, though, TPC always cares more about and puts more effort into the merch and shit than the actual games themselves.
