How come only Venusaur, Meganium, and Torterra are the gimped like this? Every other starter is either 530 or 535. Would they be too powerful with +5 or +10 base stats???

You're not wrong.
I have been replaying Emerald lately and Sceptile moveset is awful.
It's pretty much Bullet Seed until Leaf Blade. The best other move to teach is Dragon Claw, which is only after the 8th badge.

Anon i really tried like the parting shot guy, except no drought because it doesn't make sense.

It could have water absorb or natural cure and would instantly be better. Movepool is odd because 82/83 offenses. Could have spore to cripple something while carrying seed/toxic. Taunt would end the game because 80 speed.

Meganium is unsalvageable without a bst boost or a second type.

Leech Seed being a level up move makes it better than Meganium. Also, setup in the form of Growth (early) and Coil patch up its weak attack stats.

Meganium is the worst starter that's all.

Leech seed is nice but meganium gets alot more coverage in game and learns screens by level up
And body slam way more reliable than serp slam

Easily comp serp is better in game its easily the worst

Serperior does not have good defenses to use Leech Seed.
Meganium can uses Synthesis, Body Slam and Earthquake.
Sorry, Meganium is better in game.

It has Earthquake over Serperior basically, which is indeed great. Body Slam is learned at level 45+ iirc, you're stuck with Razor Leaf/Petal Dance through the whole Jotho part.
Screens by tm or level up don't really matter, they both get them.
They're the same except that one gets setup moves to patch up its terrible offense.

I don't see why it's not bulky enough to use Leech Seed. It can even use Coil to raise its Defense, and is even fast enough to do it first, something that Meganium can't.

Body Slam is level 31 in GSC.
And it's better than Slam or Dragon Tail, who have a negative priority.
And there's no point to use leech seed in game. If you're using against bosses you're giving them an opportunity to use Hyper Potions or Full Restores. Making the battle longer does not help.

Having a significant type advantage over NONE of the Johto leaders
8/12 important trainers, not to mention the rival character uses the zubat line, gastly line, magnemite line, sneasel line, and cyndaquil line, ALL of which have an advantage over him.

Compared to Serperior, which has a disadvantage against:

>Elesa (emolgax2)
>Skyla
>Brycen
>Iris/Drayden
Or in BW2:
>Roxie
>Burgh
>Skyla
>Drayden
But has an advantage over Clay in both games and Marlon in BW2.
6/12 in BW1 and 4/12 in BW2, while actually having a type advantage over at least one important trainer, which is more than can be said for Meganium.

You waste turns by setting up, but now you're able to OHKO things that come after. Instead of 12 turns, the battle lasts 9 turns for example.

There's nothing to say on Slam or Dragon Tail, so I didn't comment on that.
The list proved that Meganium struggles more often than Serperior, therefore that it's worse than it.
Finally, Serperior and Meganium have similar offensive stats. If Meganium can 2HKO something, Serperior can too.
Serperior still have the option to setup to sweep, something that Meganium cannot do.

To sum up, the main difference between them is that Meganium sucks more in its own game.
