Probably Emerald.
I can't tell why, but I downloaded both earlier this year out of nostalgia.
My Emerald run ended up with 60:00 hours, the Fire Red ended with 40:00.
I can't really put my finger on why is that, but Emerald feels more robust, despite that I prefer FRGL aesthetics a lot more.

I personally prefer FRLG but I'd say Emerald is in general a better game. It's more polished, has more content and simply has more things to do in it. Then again, I'm not sure if this is a fair comparision since Emerald was the second upgraded version gamefreak made, while FRLG were the first remakes. That's probably why there aren't things such as contests or a battle frontier in FRLG.
