Really I though Popeye was going to be revealed as the first non video game character for Smash. Considering that he had a game by Nintendo and Donkey Kong was originally a Popeye game but Nintendo couldn’t get the license so Miyamota had to come up with new characters which lead to Mario, DK and Pauline being made.
