There are only a couple of people ITT who know what they're talking about, but let me set the record straight.
When it comes to zoomers, many of them experienced Gen IV at their youngest age and grew into Gen V; consequently, they love them both (On the other hand, there are zoomers all-in-on Gen V that hate Gen IV for various reasons). Either way, they tend to deprecate anything pre-Gen IV, and sometimes especially Gen III.
Then you have late Millennials who experienced Gen III at a young age, and grew into Gen IV. Consequently, this age group tends to like both and treat them as a duology in the same vein as Gen I & Gen II. For this group, therefore, it makes no sense whatsoever to pit Sinnoh and Hoenn against one another (out of animosity, at least), as they are both necessarily intertwined with one another: in other words, you cannot possible love Emerald with Platinum, and vice versa.
Therefore, the point of this thread comes entirely from a zoomer perspective, who will almost always champion Gen IV over Gen III, especially because of their grudge against Gen III fans who often heavily detract Gen V. They have confused their own bias toward Gen IV and unrecognized tendency to treat it as duologious to Gen V (even though it isn't) for others' hatred against their taste in general, when really, it is their love of Gen V that is being singled out, not of Gen IV. Their delusion has imagined a conflict that doesn't exist.
Now, you have Kanto fans who will never forgive Gen III, too, and will side against it---but press them on their opposition and you quickly see it crumble into nostalgiafaggotry. Then beside them you have Johto fans, at least half of whom adore HGSS, that will necessarily be in favor of Gen IV over Gen III. Yet neither is interested so much in praising Sinnoh as they are in deriding Hoenn.
