I do
I usually buy
20 antidote, 20 paralyze heal, 5 awakening, 5 burn heal, and 2 ice heal

Burn heal i often end up using thanks to contact abilities (spore, flame body) when i don't wanna switch a pokemon with no non-contact moves

Speedrunners, I've seen a few werster streams and he gets a lot of use out of them. If you're chronically underleveled having stat boost items helps a lot for tough fights, especially early game, but really getting use out of them requires knowing enough about the fight to know if +1 attack or +1 defense is going to make or break it. They should be +2 honestly

the stat boosters make the game unfairly easy so i never used them. especially in gen 1 or 2, because you could use an xspeed and then an xaccuracy. this would raise your speed 1 stage but skip the accuracy check for all moves instead of raising the accuracy 1 stage. so speed runners also do this - a single x accuracy means you have 8 free horn drills/fissures/guillotines. makes it far too easy. using enough of these x items, you can be probably way more underleveled than you can be even normally.

I used the X items in my Fire red run, my team was 10 levels under the league and i was getting OHKO'd while i was 4HKOing anything

Normally when that happens i use any combination of paralyze, sleep, screens, spam accuracy reducing moves and then get one of my pokemon to +6 with boosting moves but this time none of my team could learn any so i had to rely on X items

Also i realized that they didn't introduce the X Sp Def until gen 4
Just imagine that after they split the Special stat it didn't even cross their minds to introduce an X item to raise the special defense for 2 whole generations
