This is why avalugg is my second favorite ice type. Ice is a shit defensive type yet its physical defence is so massive that you HAVE to use supereffective hits to kill it.

If it’s a special attacker just switch. Most bulky mons are only bulky to one attack type anyways

Avalugg needs a better ability. A Natural Cure clone or Regenerator would have been best, and it needs an Ice-type Gyro Ball or Heavy Slam.

Slow, shit special defensive and ice typing are enough drawbacks without needing to give it Sturdy, Own Tempo and Avalanche for STAB.

Avalugg is still slow as shit and easy to status, and it has access to Recover. The extra healing is fine but why would you pair a hail setter alongside this guy? A strong SE STAB move would OHKO it anyway, high defense or not.

Ice really needs more resistances than none at all (except itself).
It could also resist normal, since ice can get pretty fucking hard, just like rocks and steel.
