>>41918574>Cosmog is nearly dying from the stress and evolves in CosmoemI know the constant "NEBBY GET IN THE BAG" shit gets annoying, but I really appreciated that you meet the legendary super early on, and interact with it frequently over the course of the game. I'm not just getting help from random ancient super-beast #4, I'm seeing little Nebby finally get the power to protect its friends. It's a nice full circle moment, from the MC literally wrapping their body around tiny Cosmog to ward off the Spearow, to giant Solgaleo/ Lunala offering them a ride to go save Lusamine.
>Lillie leaves Alola and goes to Kanto to find a cure from the Neurotoxins>Gladion becomes the president of AetherThe ending is very sparse and sort of bittersweet. I thought they were leaving it as a sequel hook, but Ultra Sun/ Moon just have a completely different story altogether. A worse story, too, since it's back to "save the world from this rampaging diety."
But the ambiguity of the Sun/ Moon ending helps in some ways. The player accomplished all they could as a trainer, but they can't cure brain damage or piece a broken family together. Lillie and Gladion have to deal with that themselves.
Altogether I really enjoyed Sun/ Moon's story. It tried to accomplish too much at once, being a typical league challenge, an exploration of fantasy Hawaiian culture, and a story about a broken family torn apart by forces they don't understand. The Tapu were especially underdeveloped. I kept waiting for their big rescue moment, but they got fuck all.
But the more personal stories worked great imo. Everyone has more to them than you first expect, and they all get some sort of arc exploring that. This template, with a bit more focus on the important parts, is what the rest of the stories should strive to be.
