What narrative? No one but a moron ever used that narrative it's well-known that Game Freak and the anime staff work and communicate closely with each other.

Like, how do you think the anime staff know how to animate and portray the Pokemon and characters? Based on the reference sheets given to them by Game Freak.

The series is centered around jumping from one region to the next on a moment's notice, it's going to be inevitable there's run-ins with past characters, especially Gym Leaders, and they can tie Masters into those with special events.

Anon, Masters is dead. It flopped.

The only characters you can realistically expect to see again are Misty and Brock because KANTOOOOOOOOOOOO and Lillie because she has an unfinished story and her actress is still on board (she voiced 6 year old Go in the first episode and a Nickit in the most recent episode)
