What are you thinking? The pokemon design is fantastic in those games, both competitively and aesthetically. And the story is probably the best, held up by the main villain who is an actually interesting character. Also gets points for having straight-up difficult Totem fights and much better AI than games past.

Gen 2 has a lot of longevity and amazing visuals. Gen 5 gas terrible visuals. Gen 6 has good Pokemon for non megas. Gen 7 has an amazing story and their Pokemon are good outside the baramons.
