>>41931228I disagree wholeheartedly. The acceptance of homosexuals and the acceptance of transgender individuals are two entirely different animals. Homosexuality is just a sexual orientation. They don't expect anything of you beyond the acknowledgement that some guys are gonna like other guys, and that that's still love and that it's fine for them to have equal marital rights to a straight couple. That's a very low bar for most people who aren't religious nuts, because it makes sense.
Transgender individuals, on the other hand, are a pile of demands. They've had themselves surgically mutilated to become something that they may mentally be, but biologically never were, and they expect everyone to go along with everything that entails even if they haven't had the surgery. Names, pronouns, mannerisms, sensitivity, even sex. And while it may not take very long for the social aspect of it to become accepted on the same level that homosexuality is, sexually it may take generations for sentiments to change. Homosexuals don't expect you to have sex with them if you aren't homosexual. You wont get called a bigot for that. If you're a straight male who wont have sex with a mtf transgender though, you're a transphobe. And the vast majority of straight people (of either gender) most likely will take a very long time to view sex with a transgender individual as "straight," if ever. So theyll refuse, and itll undoubtedly always be used by the transgender community as a surefire sign that they're being oppressed, when in reality it's just preference. If the bar transgender people set continues to be this high, they may never be accepted, and many people may even start to harbor resentment towards them for the ridiculous dedication they expect from EVERYONE. Many people probably already feel that way. Just lower the bar, dude
