Actually the best starter to come out of Gen 8, but that's an extremely low bar. If they got rid of the drumming bullshit so it was just a grass gorilla it would have been much better.

Nah, it's one of few solid grass starters and it actually look pretty cool after all these lame grass starters past two gens
The only major flaws I see are a goofy drum, this really do not match with Rillaboom's design.

Honestly though it's mostly just the stupid drum kit it has.
But now Meganium takes that title still, poor thing has basically 0 positive in game qualities.

I was thinking Rillaboom wouldn't look out of place with Sinnoh and Unova starters, they all have darker colors and something above their eyes to give them 'angry' eyes.

not that person but i think the simplicity of it without the drum makes it look like gen 1/2, but some of the specific design choices like the face, colors and maybe even proportions make it look like gen 5. also the fact that its pure type probably makes people think of those gens before the other gens
