I didn't RP as anyone but I became mutuals with a few people because I thought they were just using the characters as reaction images and that their urls were just because they were hardcore Pokemon fans. I have mild autism so I didn't really pick up on the whole "ironic rp" thing until months later. I think the entire time I was "friends" with some of those people, they were roleplaying. Dedication, really.

Here's some lore.

A lot of people from ilasgoc were from a Yugioh group called Swagioh, with some of the people in Swagioh going on to make Let's Zexal The Deal.

Issues with Swagioh lead to bad blood between ilasgoc/lztd, Lance being one of the main perpetrators of this nonsense. Threatened to kill himself and then blamed it on everyone.

There was a lot of pedophilia within the group, with Proton / Thorton / The Butler guy with Caitlin being the main perpetrators. A few OCs fed into this as well.
