I don't know about two years ago but this time around a lot of Gamefreak staff were actually just working at marketing and translation, I remember reading about 200 out of 1000 staff were actual programmers but can't remember where so take it with a grain of salt.

Game Freak employees cost the company like 5 times more than any other Japanese developers because they get an amazing salary, bonuses, benefits and they're free from crunch.

Funny how you misread that report - in all 1000 people did work on SS, mostly from TPC and TPCi in various capacities - there's only about 200 Game Freak devstaff credited on the games.

Nintendo were the ones who decides to cut the dex, it wasn't Game Freak alone. TPC and Nintendo made the decision after talking with Game Freak.

Nintendo owns 1/3rd of TPC. Nintendo are the ones setting these strict deadlines for Pokemon games.

Why would you hire professionals? The only competent person to ever work on pokemon was Iwata. SWSH confirmed they don't even need to try making quality games. Now they can only cut costs not on management of course since they can't really expand on the market anyway.
