Smogon has always had a ruleset and use that ruleset on cartridge as well.

Just play AG, custom games, Battle Stadium, or VGC if you don’t like it.

A. They rarely do complex bans since it leads to a “Give a mouse a cookie” scenario. Swift Swim+Drizzle was a mistake in Gen 5 because if faggots that wanted Gen 5’s gimmick to be in the game.
B. The only mechanic change they have is Sleep Clause, which is also a mistake where they should just make it so you can’t use a sleep inducing move until your opponent’s pokemon faints/wakes up.

If Smogon players actually cared about balance and diversity, and seeing who the truly skillful players are, they should just go back to playing Gen 3. Gen 8 by design is meant to be a broken meta. It'd be like fixing the crit mechanics or altering Hyper Beam/Blizzard in Gen 1 format. People still play Gen 1, it's filled with bs, but that's the charm of that format, just like Dynamax is for Gen 8

You're right that they should remove random crits, damage rolls, and change 95% and maybe 90% accurate moves to 100% accurate moves to make the format more fair, maybe some other changes to remove the effects of RNG. Those mechanics are much more tolerable in a best-of-3 format, but on Showdown, you can easily lose a game (and ELO) thanks to a 5% or even smaller chance.

I only know gens 4-8.
I'd say 7 is very offensively driven overall.
5 was even more offensive but it became bulkier in recent years.
4 is more of a bulky offense meta.
6 is almost all balance.

Engage your brains, Dynamax on stall teams is going to be used to stall out the opposing players Dynamax by using 2x max guards to waste 2/3 turns to prevent the wallbreaking opportunities that Dynamax was meant to provide in the first place. The idea was good in theory, but gamefreak implemented it poorly as usual.

The problem is that stall is too strong, and gamefreaks genius way of countering it is to have Pokemon double their HP for 3 turns as a gimmick to somehow prevent the bulky metagame.

In order to fix stall, all you would need to do is this.

Get rid of Max Guard, it was a retarded idea that leads to whoever dynamaxes first losing.
Dynamax moves can't miss, land through protect detect, and substitute.
Dynamax users are treated as having unaware and ignore the effects of burn, paralyze and confusion.

I remember people being on the fence about suspecting Z-moves but those had a cost to run and were one time only.

Yes there was an argument about that one single turn winning the game like bloom doom heatran vs heatran check.
The worst offenders were met either with the banhammer like eevee's z-move or Kommo-o's that went from UU to OU where Tapus were rampant enough to stop it.

At the end of the day smogon doesn't care about how outsiders think about them and just want a competitive and healthy experience to those who are part of their community. Outsiders who want to play with their gimmicks can just queue up on AG, Ubers, VGC and other modes. Even natdex to some extent if they want to use megas against dynamax and lose braincells.

But if they want to play OU they'll have to accept it's not a clown fiesta and it has rules.

I think the 1v1 council will try and see some deeper look on the whole dynamax issue. If i remember correctly they wanted to give gigamax forms the same treatment as mega evolutions had back in the day, so individual tiering. If that follows through we might see testing for gigantamax on OU but i highly doubt it. The mechanic itself is the problem.

But i'll agree the council was pretty dismissive with the issue at hand. I know it doesn't help much but there is also battle stadium singles to use dynamax.
