Smogon clearly has bias for a retarded stagnant meta that favors walls and stall that can frequently switch in and out. Hence anything that doesn't this retarded criteria gets banned.

Heatran and Diancie were staples of stall, how could I forget? Stall would often run Dug to eliminate the biggest threat against it (like the two mentioned). people even experimented with running Diglett and Trapinch in its place and it still worked enough of the time.

if it developed completely naturally, it would be more unpredictable and thus the top players would be less consistent and maybe not even be able to vote on new suspects
the primary goal of suspect tests and bans are good to maintain the status quo

You don't deserve the (You), but it's not that Dugtrio beats Heatran but that it prevents any counterplay, which in the Heatran user's case would be switching out from a bad matchup.

Counterplay and options are what enable Pokemon to be a competitive and skill-based game. There is no difference between the moves of a good player and a bad player when trapped by Dugtrio; both will be unavoidably Earthquaked. Thus skill is removed from the game. This is why trapping abilities should all be banned.

Some fighting games adopted a ratio system, where each player is given a certain number of points and each character costs points. That might not work in a Pokémon game where sweeping is common, but it can't be worse than fucking Smogon.

Tiers are made becuase otherwise 80% of the roster would be unviable, with smogon tiers you can find a reason to use almost any mon, only extreme cases like Luvdisc are actually unviable on every tier.

Stall's power is why offensive teams needed to run Heatran to break stall. Dugtrio is an answer to an answer, not a threat by itself.
Heatran's became more common because GameFreak made Fairies the strongest type in the game. That made it a predictable target for Duggy.
I used to run Sap Sipper Azu in OU because it completely walled Kartana and Bulu which were insanely common and choiced. That doesn't mean that Azu is broken, just that those Grass types are too good and their usage creates an exploit opportunity.
Stall is too powerful. It needs to be hit, not Arena Trap.

Except it didn't. Good stall players could still beat offensive teams without Duggy, since they got huge boosts in Mega Sableye and Toxapex in SM OU. We had a top 10 stall player even showing off here on /vp/ two months ago.
Duggy ban just got scrubs to drop stall teams because it needed a high skill level to master.
Duggy was always a convenience, like Lando-T.

SM OU stall isn't really all that viable, SM OU's main issue is that it's a very matchup dependant tier and a lot of common stall teams just autolose to common offense/bulky offense archtypes. Toxapex is cancer, and plenty of tournament players on Smogon even agree, but it's not because of "stall".

Gliscor is the only one of those with a good matchup against Heatran and even then it doesn't like Z-move sets at all. Quag hates Toxic and doesn't take any of offensive Heatran's moves particularly well and the other three get trapped and shut down by Magma Storm + Taunt.
