Thoughts on the new and rarer "square" shinies? Apparently, shiny pokemon have a 15/16 chance of being a common "star" shiny, and a rare 1/16 chance of being a "square" shiny.

slightly off topic but if youre doing the 500 encounter method, does the pokemon youre battling encounter rate go up as you chain it? like if your going for some 5% random encounter mon will it become more common while chaining? or if it works at all does it only work on overworld ones and not randoms?

The rates you listed only refer to breeding, raids and fossils. It's almost impossible to get star shiny from wild encounters, so square shiny isn't as rare as you think.
I found it kinda interesting that you can let other players to know how you get your shiny pokemon.

Grats anon!

I caught a square shiny before my fourth badge and I also ran into another one recently. It’s a pretty cool addition, I even hatched a regular star shiny and honestly they’re both just as cool but having one of each is pretty awesome.

its not really rarer because those chances are flipped if you're hatching from eggs or catching in the wild

The square shinies are rarer, about 1/16 when hatching eggs, it's just that the code monkeys were retarded and made wild square shinies ultra fucking common compared to default shinies.
The rarity screw up is at the point that getting a default star shiny in the wild is like finding a shiny shiny.

Yeah, a second, more rare shiny colour palette would be fun and a good way to give Pokemon from Gens 1-5 a chance at a better shiny now that GF can actually choose the colours instead of an algorithm.

Pokémon Stadium had several palettes for each Pokémon that were based on nickname, I feel like we could have a second shiny palette.

MM is the only viable way. Otherwise you would have to kill 500of these fuckers which already takes longer than breeding.
The chance for the pokemon to spawn increases via the chain method tho. Basically kill the pokemon you encounter every single time if you want to use the encountermethod
