I don't think I would ever want to rob children out of having the same experiences I had growing up playing Pokémon. Whenever I see some random kid walking around at a store with their Pokéball Plus, or when my 13 year old cousin talks about his Sun team I am reminder of a better time when I first got my Pokéwalker and put my Totodile in it. I can go back even farther to when I was seven and first beat the Elite Four while at a fairground. While I wish that the rampant casualization of the series would cease, I can say that making a story filled with things before the Elite Four is a way to go.
