Next gen should implement a feature that lets you control if you want to be involved in the story or not. Say you make it to the first gym city, your rival asks if you if you wanna go check out some building where something plot heavy is happening. If you say yes, that triggers the story of the game and you’re stuck in it. If you say no, the game won’t force you to read walls of dialogue at every turn and the story is very loosely happening in the background of your much simpler adventure. This feature would make SMUSUM actually replayable because the idea of sitting through the cutscenes again is killing me.

I really thought they were going down the "fixed matches" route with how they were drilling through your head that he's a bit of a ditz. Like not have him be a total sham, just that he's gotten so comfortable due to the lack of a legitimate challenge that his head is in the clouds, then he has a change of heart (or learns they were being fixed without him knowing) and blah blah blah everyone's happy.
