Bede is the best rival since hgss silver. He's an asshole with a strong team who pops up when you least expect, yet you still get the glory of watching him be humiliated. It's a win/win. The only rival who outdid him was N with his sheer fucking lunacy.

The monument shit was so stupid. The game treats it like he was forced to deface it by Oleana, when literally NO ONE told him to do so. His only job was to get wishing pieces, and he went about it at the most retarded, juvenile way possible.

Holy shit yes. Leon and bede scorn rose after he reveals his plan to them. Hop realizes he'll never be a better trainer than you, leon, or bede and voluntarily goes under rose's wing to become galar's strongest trainer. Rose pumps out hop propaganda, leon loses to hop because hop's pokemon get energized by eternatus, and now you need to defeat your old friend to bring balance back to galar. Then you can kick leon's ass afterwards just because.

Would be 100x better than what we actually got.

Doesn't help that one of the NPCs mentions that it's not the real monument and just a re-creation. Yet everyone before and after the incident acts as if the real thing was destroyed.

I think the writers favour too much Hop in the story, considering he had an inferiority complex, he easily could took any route to defeat his brother including siding with rose or trying to control eternatus.
