I tried to train a Haunter and a Raticate but since I'm apparently completely braindead they both died to pursuit as I tried to put them in combat to get speed EV's to outspeed Sabrina's Alakazam, of whom I was pretty scared. I eventually just gave up and faced her with Venomoth, Lapras and Snorlax, who was undoubtedly the MVP with his high hp and special defence. Didn't expect Venomoth's leech seed to deal so much damage, and I think I'll keep him in my team since he grew on me, and his psychic attacks should be good against Agatha, especially with his typing.

The sixth gym leader went down without a hitch. Coalchar and Tweedle made short work of the gardner. We also added two new members to the team, Raijin the electric/dragon Gyarados analogy and Lionegosh the Tentacruel in all but appearance. Admittedly we're a little more overlevelled than I expected but I remember the level jump between the sixth and seventh gym in ruby is pretty big so we should be fine.

About to start my first Shield Nuzlocke and I had a few questions first. Is there a general consensus on how the wild area works with the catch the first pokemon rule? Hey, late posting today, but... this has gone on long enough. In today's bit of husband/wife blind Shield Nuzlocking, we're figuring out how to evolve our Snom, Elsa, and to make our way to WYNDON!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJMb9TTsnmM >>41984134 I don't think there's real consensus yet on the Wild Area, but I think it depends on how hard you want to make it, and how limited you want your team to be. Being blind, we just said each individual part of the wild area was a separate area, and we catch one in each like normal (leaning towards dynamax raid battles). I saw some people limit themselves to one catch per gym badge in the wild area, and one catch before any badges. That SOUNDS like a good way to make the game harder, but really, I think limiting your numbers of mons in this game isn't the way to make it harder. You wind up naturally super over levelled that way. If you're looking to make it harder, I'd add a rule that you have to have a completely different team each time you walk into a gym. So if you go into the first gym with 6 mons, you couldn't use any of those until the third gym. As for monotype rules, I think the consensus is that you don't count encounters that aren't on type. Though maybe you could do something else with the overworld Pokemon in this game.

1)Do you have a fast or a durable enough Flash/Sand-Attack user? Having at least two is important. Female Gastly with Flash is quite useful if you can nab one.
2) At least one reliable non-volatile status spreader is key (Mareep/Flaafy is ideal but you do you). Poison is the least advantageous as it merely saps health. Burn limits the damage of both Stomp and Rollout in addition to sapping HP. Paralysis is the most useful as it does two important things—first, cuts speed so that ALL of your team members can go first (Headbutt spam for flinchhax?) and you set the tone; secondly it more than doubles the chance of a Rollout chain breaking.
3) Headbutt can if you have enough $$$, completely replace Tackle and DickAttack. Do so.
4) There’s always the Machop trade.

Viola went pretty easily. Onix and Quilava swept, for the most part, with a little help from corsola on her Dwebble. Just got to lumiose, will probs snag either Bulba or Squirtle since I actually have decent fire options in the PC. Leaning towards bulba since water types are easy enough to come by with the old rod incoming, but dunno yet.

Also doing a Renegade Platinum Apocalocke on the side with some friends. My scenario is Alien Invasion (flying, psychic, bug, and electric types, plus normal types and any mon that rolls a 5) And uh.. just lost half my team to the Jubilife Barry fight. Lost Starly to a crit wing attack from his own Starly, Surskit from a surprise Rock Tomb from Munchlax, and Turtwig to a fucking Metronome-Sky Attack from the same Munchlax. Likely would've wiped if my boi Dominic didn't clutch an ember burn, dodge a rock tomb, and then live a tackle + another rock tomb on 1 fucking hp. I have a couple mons in the PC, at least. Notably Squirtle, so I might NOT insta-die to Roark.. we'll see if I can get some luck going forward sigh.

Finally, with Lusamine defeated for a second time we're done with all the story bullshit, now it's just the victory road and then the league, only 7 difficult battles ahead of us and it's on to the next one

Here we go No starter, no Dynamax, no dens Got incredibly lucky by immediately finding an Egg Move Skwovet. Hammy's Rollout made it super easy to grind on Rookidee. First casualty was newly caught Lola the Lotad when trying to catch Meechee the Snover. Meechee almost swept the whole team. Onwards to Motostoke

So... Renegade Platinum Apocalocke is going great :D Yeah Barry just basically fucking swept me with a Lickilicky. I fully expected to wipe here, but my recently-acquired Rotom clutched it out of fucking nowhere by dodging a slam, living another one, and landing 2 blizzards. Hahaaa this run is fucking brutal.

well wiped to the torkoal, base 100 SP.atk with stab base 140 move is pretty strong afterall and 85/140/85 too tanky to take hits from stab mudshots. might restart this or do another romhack.

>>42014589 Don't know a thing about Rising, but Rutile is pretty difficult, and does kind of expect item usage and possibly EV training (he makes the power items and honey really easily available so you can do it early-game if you'd like, but I got away with most of the game without doing so). I don't know if Nuzlocking it is gonna be possible without playing super lame, and the creator stated that it wasn't intended to be nuzlocked. I didn't nuzlocke it but it was because I was just casually looking for a good ORAS experience.

>>42011301 Congrats on getting through! Our first Nuzlocke was in White and involved a similar body count, we feel your pain!
>>42012028 Good luck! I'm curious how your run is going to go. You're clearly doing some stuff to make it more of a challenge to you, but I've got a pet theory that the way to really make this game hard is to force yourself to use a LOT of different mons. I'm wondering if your set up will do enough to make this challenging on its own.

>>42019135 WE BEAT WHITNEY AFTER THREE TRIES!!! My plan was to Stun Spore her with Monarch before she started the Rollouts, but unfortunately she was too slow and got one-shotted. I spammed Defense Curl with De Boulder and that was enough to withstand the spam. RIP Monarch, your death wasn't in vain.
I probably shouldn't have done the Bug Catching Contest, but the chance at a Scyther or Pinsir was just too much to pass up. We have a Paras now I guess.
>>42014710 That Torkoal is a run-ender for sure. Rock-types help a lot to withstand the Overheat, but even then, that thing is a monster.
>>42012028 Godspeed Anon, no Dynamax runs seem not that bad if you leverage type advantages and outspeed whoever you're up against.
