Then when you crossbreed, say, a pikachu with, idk an emolga or a skitty, the game knows to slap on the cheeks asset onto the new baby emolga's/skitty's face, and in skitty's case, make sure to keep them there when it evolves.
Thing is crossbreeding need not have a massive difference, just a little unique spin on the mon. I think stuff like a lot of the art posted here is pretty much impossible.
You'd also have to be very careful with breeding groups and probably restructure the whole thing.
