Does your fondest, nostalgic Pokemon franchise memories come more from playing the games or watching the anime?

The anime. I didn't play that many Pokemon games as a kid and only ever finished a few of them that weren't even mainline titles (Snap, Hey You Pikachu and Gale of Darkness). I got very far in Red and Emerald but the only mainline game I ever finished was the recently released Pokemon Shield

Anime, specifically Heracross vs. Blastoise and Ditto vs. Pikachu battles, and the entirety of the Sinnoh League made for some amazing memories and stapled some of my currently favorite Pokemon

The games for me. I rarely got to see showings of Pokémon as a kid. What made it even harder was being a military kid, every new place I went to had different TV stations and most of the time Pokémon wasn’t even aired. My parents got my brother Pokémon and got me it too. I remember I didn’t like to read so I would skip a lot of dialogue but I fell in love with the Pokémon world instantly.

Anime, cards, preaty much everything that's not games. I didn't even know games existed until gen 3 Kanto remakes were already out. Nintendo isn't popular in ex Warsaw pact so noone even had a gameboy.

The highlight is watching the first three movies in theaters with my friends, and playing the games right afterwards. My first game was Yellow and I bought it just hours before watching the first movie.

I'm pretty sure that I caught Ho-Oh the same day I watched Movie 2, and it was raining that day. Finally, Movie 3 was so good that I lied to my friend about something so that I could go rewatch the movie without him (I don't know why I didn't offer him to go again, but it was the beginning of the end for us).

I can never forget the scene in Pokemon Advanced where pikachu uses thunderbolt on swellow while it was using aerial ace in a double battle to coat it in "lightning armor" so it could break through a combo of Barrier and Light Screen

Gen 3, particularly playing with friends every weekend, entering the Journey Across America tournament, and trying to complete the Pokedex using like 5 different games. That was also the generation where I discovered the internet, and just how expansive this series and its fandom really was.
