if it doesn't skip cutscenes then what does it actually skip? only "movies" I can think of would be Pokestar Studio and that's forever locked in Unova

Does it at least skip the Dynamax cutscene during battles? I know the battle effects option doesn't disable them and I already uninstalled the game to test it myself and that's really the most wasted time you'll have by playing this game.

In-engine shit can't be skipped, only literal movie files, and there aren't very many of those.

Because you can only skip literal cutscenes - as in prerecorded movie files. Anything done in-engine, such as text box dialogues, aren't actually cutscenes, and so can't be skipped.

I didn't realize this during my first playthrough, but it takes an hour to make it out of the professor's lab and half of that was cutscenes.
I bought it used so I could trade myself modded Dittos and sell them

Because you're only supposed to play a Pokemon game once and never again according to Game Freak.
Even the skip cutscenes option in Let's Go was better because it let you press + or - to skip all 5 of them, not just straight up turn them off so you miss things like the pokedex certificate.
