Some will be worse, others will, hopefully, be better. Im either scenario it makes sense to keep yourself from playing the games. If the games get better, then it clearly didn't matter since even sword and shield sold well. You could have played them and nothing would have changed. If they get worse, then you accomplished nothing except keeping yourself from enjoying the newest iteration of pokemon.
The only thing a boycott could actually accomplish would be to tell TPCi that making pokemon games isn't profitable anymore, and they would just stop making them altogether, which no one wants to happen.
