why does falinks looks like its floating most of the time in battle?

Because theymade a generic cross-shaped shadow that doesn't make sense with Falinks. It makes it look out of place.

Probably this. They made that choice to save on rendering shadows for all the lights the stadium would have had, and it backfired.

good point, didnt notice but thats definitely it. the shadow is only 4 out of 12 feet so it looks fucked

For me it felt like every pokemon floated. Most likely because the models have a higher resolution than the background
