Might get a lot of hate for this, but I thought ORAS was the magnum opus in terms of how easier it was to get competitive mons in a snap. Mirage Islands and DexNav were the best damn features of Gen 6 and I wish they kept at least the DexNav.

1) The Wild Area is pretty neat

2) I'm having 10x fun in Gen 8 than I did with XY/SuMo. Those games were duds.

3) Dexit was also a dud of a controversy. Very few people use the "national dex". I've never imported shitmons from other gens into a game before, and I've never had any desire to. That's not how 99% of people play pokemon and gamefreak knows this.

ORAS would've been overall enjoyed more, especially here, if it had the BF.

Your rival forcibly stops you way more often. There's also more exposition dumps than the originals. The walk to Petalburg is optional, but you're forcibly dumped in Mauville after beating Norman which goes back to my point of the game dissuading you from exploring.

I'm not mad at the loading, I'm mad at the fact that the overworld isn't a mostly cohesive whole anymore. For reference, take a look at the original map. You can walk and surf almost anywhere you want and it gave the impression of a really organic overworld.

but yeah those were why ORAS disappointed me even discounting the frontier. Hoenn is a great map imo but the remakes didn't address the issues present in the originals and completely shit on postgame content.

how much of it is the rival teaching you to do something? cutscene=/=handholding. A cutscene can do something tutorial related but if it's something story related and it's not teaching you to do something then it's not handholding
