Getting screwed over by RNG isn't fun, but ultimately the %chance is low enough and you have reasonable ways to play around it. You can't completely strip a turn-based RPG of all RNG at the end of the day.

this, it would become too straightforward and less exciting if you took away flinch, para, freeze etc. Lately G-Pikachu won a tournament in vgc and people started to use Safeguard more (also because burning mons was popular and G-Butterfree was also used a bit). So wow, that was hard to counter lol.

Reminder that there is nothing wrong with RNG in certain circumstances. It helps serve as a way to mix things up, keep games exciting, and serve as soft tiebreakers in stalemates (like getting a crit on someone stalling you). Skilled players can work around things such as Paralysis, Flinches, Misses, and so on.

No, one is removing a gimmick from the base game and the other is completely overhauling everything from how damage is calculated to how turn order is decided. Don't give a shit what you think of the Dynamax ban, it is absolutely not comparable to trying to remove all the RNG from Pokemon of all things.

I remember a smogon's April's Fools update long ago that basically said something like implementing a runtime in their simulator which would give the victory to the player who would be negatively affected by RNG, not sure if it was out of season because people thought it was legit coming from smogon.

Just an FYI to everyone. Many great chess players love stuff like Fischer Random Chess and blitz games because randomness leads to new and different game states that are much more enjoyable for the greats to analyze than the normal deterministic shit that's been done thousands of times.
