GXE is a shit indicator because it can be easily exploited by making new accounts. Most old accounts are stuck at lower than 80 gxe because regardless of rank, you'll be stuck eventually with 50/50 battles against similar rank players as you, lowering your GXE.
Face it, Smogon is unofficial, fanfic, certified autism.
The only reason people use it, is because it's faster and can instantly try teams. No one plays that shit because of their retarded rules.
