The theme is 'From Beyond'. Posting my rematch team from after the elite four is beaten.
My gym would consist of warp puzzles and the layout would be like the inside of a spaceship with windows that view out into galaxies, planets, stars, etc.
My ace would be Reuniclus.

I've always liked the idea of dual type gyms as a sort of post-game challenge, since I know monotype gyms are to teach kiddos about type matchups. So that's what mine is.
Electric/Dark, and the gym is only lit with neon and blacklight, etc. I don't know exactly how to implement it but I'd like the puzzle/gimmick to be based on laser tag.
Team lineup is Morpeko, Luxray, Obstagoon, Toxtricity, Weavile. Final pokemon is Mega Houndoom or Mega Manectric based on which version of the game you have.

My character is that I'm a masked thief who basically "stole" the gym from its original owner and got to hold onto it because he's idolised by the denizens of the town. The town in question is basically one big Las Vegas-style casino.

To get through the gym, you have to evade and shut off spotlights and the gym trainers are all guards and police officers.

The team is made up of criminal-themed Pokemon who each play a role during heists.

Always had an idea for a gym that was owned by the evil team and is being raided while you are going through it. You have to avoid the police officers by going through secret areas, and there would be some kind of gym puzzle shown, but you wouldn’t be able to go through it. Think of the final areas of Portal 1, where you go out of the puzzles. Leader would be hiding in the back where you give him his final fight before he is arrested. He would be dark type(sorry for another one of these in the thread) and would use some pokemon outside of his type like some of the Sinnoh leaders

my gym is a sort of bigger on the inside type house, looks simple on the outside but you get lost on the inside. sort of like valeries, but an old, get regal haunted house instead of a dollhouse.
the puzzle is, sort of in the spirit of swsh gym challenges, no trainers, but pokemon instead, like kabus gym.
you wander around the haunted house, its pretty dark, and you interact with objects to get hints on how to progress. the key objects you need to interact with are actually pokemon, or at least cause pokemon to jump out at you, and its the same pokemon as my team:
>you interact with a candle/lamp/chandelier, and it turns into a litwick/lampent/chandelure that you have to fight.
>you interact with a plant and phantump/trevenant attacks.
>you interact with a table that has teacups on it and you fight sinistea/polteageist.
>you interact with a group of pokedolls and mimikyu attacks.
>and finally theres what looks to be a knight statue in front of a door, but its actually a golurk.
these all also take place in different themed rooms, but not in the sense of valeries gym where you just teleport room to room. the rooms are actually connected in one big house, more like the team skull house in sm.
the froslass is just an extra pokemon for a rematch thats not tied to any puzzle cause i like froslass.
also i havent designed a gym leader or anything but it would probably be basically just edgy caitlin and instead of sleeping all the time shes drinking tea all the time.

I'd be ghost type and to solve my puzzles you'd have to do ghost hunter shit like find EVPs or take photos to see hidden pokemon or trainers. I'd have my gym in an abandoned plush factory and you'd need to ride through the conveyor belts through the derelict machinery. Needless to say my ace would be Mimikyu.

I'm a problematic gym leader who's difficult because I'm a creepy, socially anxious NEET who refuses to leave his gym and who just wants to lie around all day doing nothing.

To navigate my gym, you have to basically clean it up by rolling bags of trash into receptacles.

Alright, my turn.
The gym is broken down into 3 sections: a forest, a dungeon, and a dragon’s hoard. At certain points in each section, the player would have to roll a d20 at certain thresholds. A low roll would spawn a high level Pokémon like an Obstagoon or Morgrem (gnoll/goblin), middle roll would do nothing, and high rolls would grant an item.

I'd have an archeology theme, with half of my team being Pokemon to help me dig, and the others unearthed treasures (going from bones, to common items, to a burial site).
Where you find me would depend on with how many badges you want to challenge me. With 0,1,5,6 or 7 I'd be at a digsite you'd have to traverse (probably with some rock/box pushing puzzle) and with 2,3,4 or 8 badges I'd be at a museum where you'd have to rearrange exhibits in a specific way, with clues from the little plaques in front of them.

oh also the digsite would be in a desert near the my town, where you can already catch a few pokemon before fighting me, but with the excavation badge you'd get access to a larger part of the desert, where you could catch Cubones, Bronzors, Yamasks, Baltoys and other Pokemon that could be connected to archeological discoveries. This would also be where you find your fossil

Also I felt that actually having revived fossils would feel weird on this team, too much focus on stuff beyond just finding old treasures. If the fossil pokemon actually stayed animated skeletons I might have put one in.
And if I put any in they'd have taken the place of Cubone, which is not an option

Layout/puzzle: the room is a library. Each gym trainer I employ dresses up as a past villian team grunt, if you can guess where they came from and the team, you get a free pass.

You face 5 trainers that are reading, answer their questions or battle, however unseen are ninjas, if you get to a point or try to dodge the 5 trainers they will attack and are well versed in powder skills, speed attacks, powerful moves and even trap set ups.

No single type restriction: just cute and fabulous pokemon along with friendly and flamboyant trainers. Also every trainer uses special effect balls and those effect stickers.
Challenge: Dance Rush minigames and/or the floor is made out of fast-moving conveyor belts which can only be navigated with rhythmic timing to the beat of the gym music.

"don't touch anything", kind of. Every pokémon either has an on-contact ability like Poison Point, Aftermath, Mummy, Rough Skin, Gooey etc, they all hold Rocky Helmets or Sticky Barbs or have Baleful Bunker/Spiky Shield and so on.

Looks like a big metal cactus w/ high voltage wires on the outside.
Gimmick is an obstacle course where touching anything, even the walls, deducts a point. The trainer you face at the end of the obstacle course depends on how many points you lost, with the leader requiring a perfect score.
>rewards
TM for winning is Spiky Shield, which would be usable mostly on grass and steel pokémon.
Badge is the Barb Badge, if badges are a thing in the region.

Theme: Geology

You have to push a mechanical lairon on tracks around to bring it to big geodes. The lairon splits them in two creating a new path.

You get the Sedimentary badge, where each layer is made from the color of the mineral in the geode you open. (for exemple first mineral is green, first layer is green). Every trainer gets a unique badge.

NORMAL TYPE GYM

GYM Design:
The gym looks like a church with many Pokemon paintings and statues decorating its outside and inside. You can see some Smeargles painting the interior.
At the top there's a big Arceus statue.

GYM Puzzle:
A giant maze filled with holograms that look like walls and fake trainers. If you reach the center you can turn everything off and the gym becomes a huge hall.

You compete in a downhill sand sailing race against gym trainers. If they crash into you and fight you you start the race over, but with the defeated trainers out of the race. A flying/ground regional Mantine would be really cool, but oh well
>Stadial Badge
A bid field museum exhibit full of giant skeletal models of ancient pokemon. Some of the dioramas are real and attack you, so you always know the leading pokemon of a gym trainer's team
>Venoms Badge
Kung fu school full of battle girls and blackbelts all abusing poison ailment. You pick gym trainers to team up with to fight other gym trainers. Each trainer uses one of the gym leader's pokemon so you can see its moveset
>Slumber Badge
It's an oversized playroom full of toys and plushies and other kiddie decor. Just a maze with a few blocks and toy cars to push out of the way, and piles of plushies to knock over

The leader is the heir to a royal family from another region. He left his native region in order to learn how to be a good king. The gym itself would pit you in double battles against gym trainers who use Pokemon with a type advantage over steel. Throughout this, you are partnered with a trainer who uses steel-type Pokemon. At the end, he reveals himself to be the gym leader and you have a proper battle against him. Upon victory, challengers are granted the TM for Metal Burst.

I forgot to add some things.
Layout: a three story public library. 1st floor has the fiction and new collections. There is a cafe attached where you can rebattle trainers daily and I'll offer a rematch. 2nd floor has the non-fiction and lots of study areas. 3rd floor is the reference area where all the old and valuable books are. I'll be located in the back behind a stack of books.

The gym puzzle will have you sorting books in the right area and learning about rare pokemon hiding around the region. The last book you shelve belongs to the reference section where I am.

I made this before SwSh but doesn't matter. Depending on the version I swap out Lurantis for Leavanny. The trainers in my gym will use water types which will help you to water giant plants to progress if you want to skip them bring your own water type.
