>>42024249>Evolution lines are a fucking mess, no digimon is unique due to this. They all can digivolve into whatever other shit, like Renamon evolving into gallantmon which should be Guilmon exclusive.A lot of it stems back from the Tomagatchi days. Rather than making a simple product of "If you want this specific Digimon you need to buy this specific Digivice" they went with "See all the different Digimon you can get based on your love and care for them?" route, which then became tradition from there onward and has stayed that way since. While I agree evolution lines could use some cleaning up to make them more polished, I doubt we'll get that any time soon in the World Games. The Story Games have done a pretty good job recently compared to their predecessors.
>They usually don't have a huge selection of characters.Define characters. As in Digimon? The selection is always broad depending on which games you play. As in people? The franchise has always revolved around the relation between Tamer and Digimon and growing together. Recently over the years more humans have been introduced (Dawn and Dusk having a ridiculous amount introduced at the start that were literal nobodies plot wise, while CS and HM improving that significantly by including small characters who have existing relationships with those you meet and so on) into the games while still keeping to the theme, only time will tell how far they get with it.
>The digimon themselves aren't all charming unless you like their forced personalities. They don't have any personality unless they are fleshed out characters like the Royal Knights or the Digimon you fight. The way World and Story has treated your partners are more as an extension of you doing the fighting for you, hopefully they fix this in later installments, but for now your partners are as bland and as 2 dimensional as most Pokemon you get in game as well.
