That and the fact that the design philosophy change in pokemon basically started in Gen 2, at that point calling it nuGen is pretty silly. I mean I'd argue it changed again slightly in 6 but that doesnt apply here

Thank God they stopped doing that, Gen 1-2 was the low point of Pokémon designs. Even under the direction of J*mes T*rner they managed to turn in some pretty dope designs.

The designs are the only good thing to come out Sword and Shield.

Gen1 Venusaur looks like it's out to kill someone with menacing, intimidating expressions and stance.

Modern Venusaur looks like some derp monster trying to look tough but the drawing makes it look retarded instead

It's just making poses, it doesn't look menacing in the slightest. I'd argue that Gen 1 Venusaur looks more """derpy""" than fucking modern Venu, with its flat face and duller eyes.

Besides, Gen1 was Gamefreak's first pokemon game and they weren't experienced (and still are) in making games, but they improved the sprites in Japanese Blue/Yellow

Gen1 Venusaur was by far one of the best and it still baffles me how they turned it's kaiju appearance into just an oversized Bulbasaur. Like Mega Venusaur is not menacing at all and regular Venusair is just a frog with a flower.
