When Gen 5 came around, Pokemon was seen as uncool by normalfags and you already had the GTS since Gen 4.

Still not a complete mod, unfortunately... Fandom is working hard to make SWSH better games and to bring back national dex... I’m sure next summer we’ll have all mons on SWSH, with better textures and better AI team/movesets. Naturally only a Switch emulator/modded Switch can uses these things and online will be banned for these modded versions... But it’s something and TPCI, GF and Nintendo should watch what fandom is doing

The dual release model has been Pokemon's gimmick since the beginning. If you're gonna bitch about it, bitch about R/G/B/Y. At least we didn't get shafted with a limited edition third enhanced version (Blue) and then a later additional version (Yellow) that started the trend of 2-then-1 with alternate story and bonus features.
