IMO, the only one that was interesting was Acerola. Ilima and Mina tried. Kiawe has got to be the worst.

I just imagine them being like they were in the anime desu. Anime more or less did better versions of all character, except Nanu who was a bit less grumpy in the anime.

I wouldn't call them watered down, just different variations of a similar archetype. Kiawe was alot more bashful and fiery than Brock, and Mallow was in general more cheery and girly than Misty ever was.

Either way both are much better in it than in the game.
