Okay, finally got a friend to let me play this, for free! (Poor guy, one day I will have to get him something)
This game is just bad. Cut scenes for days. Dens are hidden grotto 2, electric boogaloo, only worse.
So far the only perks are: escape rope is a key item, can access pokemon from pokemon box wherever, and that is it.

So glad I didn't spend money on this.
