This doesn't look anywhere CLOSE to the 3DS style. If anything they look far more removed due to the bolder colors and WAY thicker outlines

The models still exist you fucking nimrod and Smogon people already know how to mimic SwSh's style rather than the 3DS style. Its all shaders/rendering methods. But instead of re-rendering all the old mons to match the new style, making the new ones the old style makes sense because its less work.

I have to wonder who the fuck is doing these, there's a guy on Smogon that regularly does edits and renders for Showdown's battle system and has done REALLY good work mimicking the style of the 3DS games.

if anything the outlines are too soft, it's the way that they're distributed that's the issue
they have black outlines on almost every part of them because they evidently just used a shitty filter
if you compare it to the actual 3ds look there's a clear difference

they probably had to compress the animations because 12 super high res gifs playing at the same time + animations on showdown would probably make it lag
