coalossal is good on its own but its sad that the original main design element disappeared from the evolution line.
reminds me of rhyperior. rhyperiors cool on its own but theres a lot of rhyhorn/rhydon fans that hate rhyperior and with good reason. rhyperior couldve been tweaked a bit and been its own thing, just like coalossal couldve been tweaked and been its own thing while carkoal got a train evolution

Going with something similar to the train-based evolution fakemon made would've been more coherent. I feel like I am one of the few people who actually like Coalossal, but it could have been better.

I like Coalossal's overall design, but as a continuation of Rolycoly and Carkol it's objectively terrible. A piece of living coal evolving into a living minecart should not evolve into something as bland as Galarian Rhyperior.

First form is good.
Second form looks retarded, but at least the idea is original? If it looked a bit more organic and the head didn't look comically blown back it'd be good.
The third form is just black rhyperior. Even worse than the second form, I'd rather have a weird unique Pokemon than a predictable generic Pokemon.

Carkoal was conceptually what I wanted from a Rolycoly evo, but the execution is horrible - It looks dumb.
Coalossal completely dropped the locomotive theme in favor of being another generic rock monster. It's the definition of wasted potential, and is extremely boring and disappointing. There is a reason why people say it should have been a coal train.
Gigantamax Coalossal has the silhouette of a falling turd with arms, legs, and spikes.

They’re fine. Coalossal still has the cow plow and leading wheels of a train for a face, and Carkoal is just a smaller Coalossal but with wheels for limbs. The line still having capable of glowing eyes and vehicle features still feels like Rolycoly’s ideas are still there, but I am also fine with the line turning into a coal furnace instead of an engine and implementing a kaiju body as a means of doing so.

Coalossal shares that same Gen 1 kaiju bodytype with Nidoking/queen, Kangaskhan, and Rhydon. This combined with the fact that they abandoned what was shaping up to be a cool concept in Rolycoly makes me dislike it. Also Carkoal is absolutely retarded.

Rolycoly is average but has a nice color palette
I thought Carcoal was stupid at first and almost boxed it but then it rolled up to me at the camp and had this adorable derpy look and I fell in love with it
Coalossal is pretty cool, if a little generic looking, but I used the one I caught as Rolycoly on rt 3 until the post game. I've been teaching a friend the basics of competitive lately and his ability that gives +6 speed if he's hit by water/fire moves is good for teaching prediction
