Honestly, watch a few good vgc players videos to see some teams strategies. (I watched wolfey and Cybertron) they usually post the code to use that team on cart as well so you can practice.

After you get a feel for doubles more make one and test it in showdown, and fix your weak links

Team preview and having to take only a fraction of your team means that selecting which mons go into the fight are all the more important. You have to make sure that the 3 you put in are going to be able to beat the 3/y they decide to bring, which essentially means you prepare for any of the 6. Predicting which they will use is also a good strat, eye they're team and consider what they're best move is to counter you, then plans round that.
I consider it more dimensional than just your initial pomemon pick mattering, there is more at stake for bad choices going in.
I grew up with Pokemon Stadium, so 3v3 with team preview is kinda 2nd nature. Maybe go give that classic gem a shot if you'd like.

I just had a thought; doubles Grimmsnarl with taunt and sucker punch is a sick idea. Unless the enemy switches out , if you get the taunt off you KNOW they're going to attack, and Sucker Punch would work safely.

I think life orb modest Inteleon one shots hatterene in rain but Barraskweda with propellor tail is better. He’s the fastest soak user if you want dank memes with Shedinja and you can use him for marsh pledge combo, that’s about it.

Anyway how about a gyarados? Dunno it should be able to power whip gastro and intimidate and water move aracanine? Also it could set rain for dracovish when dynamaxed or boost the speed with a flying move I guess

if you manage to pull of tailwind, followed by helping hand it's okay. Set most likely catches you off guard cause of how hard it can hit thanks to Light Ball and Lightning Rod boosts

Durant is okay, but Dracovish is just not that good of a Pokémon desu. If you want to use a strong sweeper with Whimsicott support, unironically KANTOOOOlizard with Solar Power is one of the strongest picks now. Just make sure to slap Sunny Day on Whimsi, then Dynamax with Zard t1 and go ham.

I’d also make room for an anti-Trick Room pick, Rhyperior with Indeedee/Hat supports sounds like it could be very problematic and it sets up super easily. Drop G-Weezing (useless) and Lucario (you don’t have room for Beat Up), add stuff like Torkoal (additional Sun support, good in TR) and Gastrodon (you know what it does).

The other 2 weather setters are slower than Plume and usually get outsped and put to Sleep. You have to use either redirection or a good combo to beat it. Then there is Charizard which is stupid strong like the other anon said.

I have a set for my VGC Cofag almost like this one, replace Shadow Ball with Hex. Problem is I was in a spot the other day where I was up against a G Snorlax and couldn't touch him (he had belly drummed, so willowisp couldn't kill fast enough for the ouput he was doing). Hustle boosts attack by 1 and nerfs accuracy by 1. The accuracy drop can be mitigated by either an item like Wide Lense, a Hone Claws boost, or dynamaxing perfect accuracy moves.

He's usually run as an offensive threat Jolly but Entrainment Truant sets also give him a gimmicky twist if you're wanting that too.
He's strong but quite frail. Fire melts him.

Charizard is probably a better abuser of this ability but eh, seems like it could be worth looking into. As you said the 109 speed tier is really nice and you counter opposing Zard/Whimsi leads if you have Whimsi on your side too. Destroys the likes of Togekiss under Sun as well which is super nice. Although not as potent as Zard’s Heat Wave, you have Hyper Voice if they try to get cute with redirection. The only issue I see is it’s super frail which means you will probably need to Dynamax it every time, and even then Excadrill’s Horsepower probably kills.

In any case I’ll try building a team around this later today and post how it goes.

Is Octillery ok in doubles or am I stupid? People seem to not expect Water Spout to do as much damage as it does, it's like Water Torkoal but instead of setting sun for itself it gets random stat boosts. Something like follow me support to keep it healthy seems like it could work out especially since it can run Energy ball for gastrodon.

No real point in not maxing out the attack. You could drop speed I guess but you wont gain much bulk out out of that. You want to be faster than Charizard so you can Rockfall its ass. Just use the Dynamax moves (Steelspike, Flutterby) if you want to boost bulk.

rock covers ice, flying, bug, and fire. If none of those seem to give you a hard time without Stone Miss, go for it. I'd recommend against it though, from my perspective who hasn't looked into this at all.

It's just that I find Dynamic Punch and Knock Off used far more often to cripple opponents, but by the time those moves are used they're usually enough to use once more for a 2HKO which Stone Edge usually matches. The move isn't even enough to OHKO bulky mons like Torkoal, Arcanine and Corviknight which just leaves Dpunch as the more reasonable choice for confusion. Though at the same time it's true that it covers lots of weaknesses and there's not much else that can replace it for firepower. Guess I'll keep it a little longer then.

Trainer Tower, Victory Road, Pikalytics are all good resources. For videos, watch Cybertron or Wolfey. There are also VGC streams on twitch. As far as the best advice is concerned, I think you should know that spread moves and some form of speed control (Tailwind, Icy Wind, Trick Room etc) are very important.

I saw a team with Synchronise Mursharna, Phys Def Rock setter Coalassal, Jellicent, Maractus, Quagsire, and Vaporeon and that was the only team that I saw that was hardcore stall, im in 1600s right now though

Whats the general strat idea here?
I'm not a very good singles player, but when I teambuild I usually either pick complimentary supports who can take advantage of the central strat to a plan (TR, weather, etc) or a good balanced counter to patch holes that the team would ordinarily face trouble against
