Most Gen 5 Pokémon are inspired by Gen 1 Pokémon and we all know that at this point.

Normally I'd hate this if it weren't for the fact that every Gen 5 Pokémon is infinitely better than the Gen 1 Pokémon they were trying to "rip off".

Why do people act like Gen 5's callbacks are some sort of act of thievery or whatever, like these weren't mostly designed by the exact same people. Sugimori outright said they were made to be callbacks, it was never a fucking secret.

There isn’t a single bad gen 1 design, no matter how hard you try to cherrypick, they’re all great. Yes, even Voltorb,Muk , Diglett and Exeggcute.

It's true that most Gen I Pokemon are pretty adequate, but Krabby and Kingler are indefensible. For a Pokemon family that's just supposed to be a crab, Game Freak sure managed to get just about everything wrong about decapod crustacean anatomy, particularly the eyes, the mouth (How does Krabby eat? does it just split in half?) and those chopstick-thin arms.
