Off the top of my head, corsola wouldn't be very threatening since knock off would be everywhere, and Dragapult wouldn't be very common since it would be easy pursuit trap bait.

G Darm would still be wreckingshit, though it wouldn't be nearly as unstoppable as it is now.

I'd be interested to see how corviknight would fair with Skarm and Celesteela around.

Smogon keeps a side-game meta called "Natdex OU", which is exactly what it sounds like. "You can use EVERYTHING, but not all at the same time".

it basically runs on the Mega Rayquaza Principal in Gen 7: "You can't Mega or Dynamax if Rayquaza holds a Z-Crystal. You can't Dynamax if Rayquaza knows Dragon Ascent."

I pondered this because a lot of what's in OU or suspect to Ubers feels like it's only there because something that'd hold it back was culled (Hidden Power and Knock Off's wide distribution come immediately to mind)

Exactly, which means that Darmanitan itself is broken. Smogon only bans abilities if they are inherently broken/uncompetitive, like Shadow Tag, Moody or weather abilities in UU. Moody allows something as shit as Octillery to ruin a game, Gorilla Tactics wouldn't break something like Primeape.
The "b-but it's the only user" argument is unfair with Pokémon that share their broken element with other Pokémon (i.e. Dracovish or potentially Libero Cinderace).

I can definitely see that. Even has some survivability with high hp. A pretty big downside is that the pokes rock resists are naturally SR resistant for obvious reasons, which is a downside on an Offensive wallbreaker since the natural resists have a bit more surviability from your STAB. Rock resists are also on some of the physically bulkiest types (ground/steel) so physically oriented rock have easier walls.

Still the huge advantage of sandstorm synergy will help a lot.

Most ground types can easily eat that up. Ground is one of the most physically bulky types out there since they average high defense and high hp. Any ground type would just laugh it off and OHKO with EQ.

This is why ice typing is better offensively here since it deals with ground types, which are one of the better physical walls thanks to their high phys stats and SR resists.

If it kills anything, you send in heatran and it's either a forced switch thanks to free instant momentum recovery. If it predicts the switch and you're not running air balloon heatran then you can have any levitator or flying type come in for free

Rock STAB instead of Ice (+ Icicle Crash) is a losing trade: each type rock is SE against, so is ice or fire/ground.
Defensively rock is almost as bad, with more weaknesses, including the two priority types (steel and fighting).

It's not quite that since rocks benefit greatly from sandstorm and it isn't SR weak, so it drastically increases the survivability of darmanitan and lets it switch in more.

The problem is that it's easier to wall. With its coverage, high hp, high defense ground types (which there's a lot) can easily wall off a rock based darmanitan while the ice STAB gets around it.

The only bulky water that reliably handles it is Pyukumuku, and thats if it isn't a Banded varient cuase Unaware is fully aware of Gorilla+Band. The rest get two shotted easily.

G Darmanitan is the first ice type to have a decent speed and a decent moovepool, the broken ability help a lot. It's kinda similar to tyrannocif: a pokemon with a shit type but who has everything to make the type work.

This. Ice definitely has the potential to be a terrifying wallbreaker or even sweeper with boosting moves or glass cannony stats + decent coverage. G Darmanitan is taking it maybe a bit too far but even weavile with its low BP moves put up quite a bit of work over the years.
