Loved how Sword and Shield had gym leaders, it was nice to have difficult trainers to fight
It's crazy that they got 400 pokémon on a switch game when we don't even have half that on newer hardware

Yes they do. Gen 5 might be seen as the downfall of Pokémon dexes by overall designs, but the actual GAMEPLAY and CONTENT downfall solely belongs to XY onward.

gladion is a genuinely good character. he looks like the typical edgy ONLY STRENGTH MATTERS blue ranger but there's depth to him. everything he does is ultimately in support of his family. i admit it took me a while to "get" him but he might be my favorite rival.

I didn't see major backlash for XY when they were released either. People on this board were all pissy and shit but the normies ate it up because muh Mewtwo theme and Tyrantrum and KANTOOOO, and even some people here thought it was more reflective of the franchise's growing pains into 3D than of a new design philosophy that continues to this day. That's not including the guys who actually were waiting for Z.
