You know, this is weird. Not the song, i actually love the music of SwSh (about the only thing i "love"). It reminds me a lot of Release the Spyce or Jet Set Radio at times, just really watered down and subdued; its a nice change.

What's weird is that they were ok with these chants in context of the gym theme, but refused to give voices to any of the characters or scenes that require it, like when marnie's brother is "rocking out". I played Luigi's Mansion 3 today and they decided to give the characters gibberish voices (like the sims), and it works. It tells the player that they are talking, and properly expressing the emotions of the character. I just dont see why they didnt do it for SwSh (who am i kidding, the game waa fucking rushed duh)

I have been an advocate for "gibberish" or "grunting" in Pokemon since the NDS days. If it works in Zelda, why can't it work here?

Masuda did get asked that directly in an interview and sadly his opinion is that a game having a voice that doesn't match your mental interpretation of a character is bad, so he prefers no voice. He hinted he doesn't like the voice acting in Masters because alot of the voices just don't really fit the voices in his mind for them.

The Gym music was also executed better in BW. It's more climatic and atmospheric than the soulless choir chants in SWSH. I found it more impressive that they remixed the Gym overworld music to suit the theme of each gym while still being recognizable.

The vast majority of battle music is so goddamn off-key that it's distracting. The "important" music themes are safe from this, but the ones you hear the most often are so glaringly damaged beyond repair in their form, it just hurts the rest since people start looking through the music with a fine tooth comb to find the errors.
There is a lack of tempo. There is a lack of beat. There is a very distinctive lack of cohesive synchronization. It's all fucked up, just from a musical standpoint.

This. Putting vocals in the song just calls attention that the rest of the game is mute. This is especially bad with Pierce's reveal, which is just the camera focusing on him singing for a good potion of time with no noise coming out. It's jarring.

https://youtu.be/g0HuqoKre3Y unless you think an open hi-hat on the "and" of a beat is exciting, then this percussion section is bland as hell. There's more parts to this song in terms of percussion for sure but it just doesn't feel ironed out.
Also, the gym theme doesn't properly loop in gameplay.

I love just about everything about Black before I even read what you retards think of no old Pokemon until postgame or the plot being fanfiction.

Gen V's only problems were how shittily and disappointingly the map was designed after crossing Skyarrow Bridge, shitty instruments at times in the music, no real postgame content besides Kyurem in BW and no Contests or Pokeathalon in a region where fun minigames to bond with and love your Pokemon during or after the plot WOULD MATTER THE FUCKING MOST.

Again, I feel like ARMS actually did a good job using vocals as a pseudo-instrument in their theme, underwhelming game aside.

Animal Crossing and Splatoon also basically have "vocals as instrument" songs, due to the "lyrics" effectively being absolute gibberish noises, but they do technically have actual lyrics. All these examples actually use the "vocals" to enhance the actual theme, while I really felt like SWSH's "vocals" instead detract from it and don't really feel like they were made to synergize with the song. Hell it sounds like wind rushing more than chanting half the time. Don't have a music degree or anything so I could be completely wrong I guess.
