That story has more sentimentality to it, but also, ever since FireRed, I've been naming Dratinis after rhyming pasta names (started with Tortellini, then did Linguini, Fettuccini, etc.)

kinda? It's a french name and comes from the french word for ten, dix. A currency in Louisiana put dix on the ten dollar note in a local currency, said currency is now incredibly rare and valuable and fennkin was the first starter I actually liked enough not to box asap

Named my Lilligant Malignity because at first I felt jealous of it being a waifumon that someone I know liked, but after using it more and seeing how effective it was in battle she really grew on me a lot and now I really like the Pokémon, the name kinda sounds fitting too because of the "lih" sound in both names

Most recently, I named a Steelix Minnie after mineral, and because it's female. If it was male I would have certainly named it [Male] Anatomy, since I have a female cloyster named [Female] Anatomy in reference to that Couple in gen 4 that had an onix and cloyster.

The funny thing about this specific Pokémon out of a Ghetsis theme team I went and made is A) I had a predecessor of the same name when I dedicated the moveset to Ghetsis' in the games, but then got somewhat better at actually training EVs, breeding and whatnot and went to make the successor of the original Deez Tutz with a new moveset that is arguably more frustrating for anyone that I battled with the other successors of my other Ghetsismons and B) pretty much every single one of my friends that have gone against either of the two hated the fuck out of it, which made me in turn love Cofagrigus a little more. That's the end for this blog post, unless anyone is actually interested in more

In my Pokemon playthroughs I tend to have anime-themed nicknames. For Sword I named my team after SAO characters (ace is an Inteleon named Asuna), for Sun I named my team after Love Live characters (starter is a Decidueye named Kotori), and for X I had a Corpse Party naming theme (have a Greninja named Satoshi).

Female Sneasel in a Moon Ball named Luna since Gen 2. I just like the name a lot and it fits the theme well. Funny that it ended up evolving at night time, too. Best acemon since gen 4 to current. I probably wouldn't play SwSh if I couldn't use Weavile.

Nothing too special, but I do have naming themes. I couldn't think of a name for my Charmander, so I named him William, no referance, nothing. After that, I named my Treecko William II. And several games later, my Snivy was William III. So I supposed the only change was more of an addition as the games went on.

Another one, was I named my Electrode Bonkers, my Forretress Bonkers II. But then the name Bonkers III was given to my Rampardos. They all have the name because I related them to damaging themselevs. Some more than others.
