Yeah. Usually just 2 or so. My favourite designs clutter around flying, steel and lesserly fighting so I prefer to use those over the 99% fugly ground or electric types. Even types I like conceptually such as ice have a fuckton of garbo mons.

Yeah, I don't go hog wild unless it's a themed mono type team, but if I like two ghost types in a game I'll find a way to make both work on a team, that's half of the fun of the game.

I try to not have more than one or two overlaps max. Ultimately, though, these are baby games. I could beat them with a team of magikarps if I had to, so I just run whatever I like

I wanted an all-Dark team in Sword, a mix between mono and dual, just for the fun of it. I got past the three first gym leaders with a Liepard, Thievul, and Sneasel with no issue.

Sadly, I dropped the gimmick when I went to Stow-on-Side. No, not because of the Fighting Gym or Fairy Gym, I had a Meowstic and a Salazzle on my team already, but because I realized Tyranitar was a Shield-exclusive

Oh yeah, fuck dragon type for that matter. I hate them in other fiction and pokemon is no exception. The ones I can tolerate are for example altaria or palkia because they barely look like dragons.

Sometimes Ground, Water and Steel overlap even on my competitive teams.

Notable Examples:
VGC 2017:
Gastrodon and Garchomp
Kartana and Togedemaru

Currently:
Gastrodon and Mamoswine
Indeedee and Hatterene (this I sorta want to replace Hatterene with Dusclops and/or Mimikyu)

Not unless they have some really important synergy, like a water type with drizzle and another with really high special attack
It drives me nuts trying to establish good coverage, even when I have six dual-types with no overlap.
before someone tells me i'm over-preparing for a children's game: i only play difficulty hacks and fan games

usually the overlap ends up as either grass, psychic or water. in my s/m run i had duo ghost since i wasn't expecting rowlet to become a ghost and i already had a mimikyu

Right now I'm playing a hack of Gale of Darkness that changes all the trainers' teams and adds a shitload more moves and modern mechanics, among other things. I love doubles so it's been great so far
Recently I went through a rebalance of Ultra Sun called Supernova Sun. Similar idea, but you can catch every non- legendary in the wild somewhere, and the game is balanced so you and the champion have level 100s holding good items. The difficulty went up and down but it was really fun overall, and the post game is pretty much perfect.
If you go on Pokemoner.com there's a massive list of prepatched roms and fan games covering pretty much the whole series

I try to avoid such a run, but it's unavoidable when you're doing all-Kalos runs in X and Y with a fixed set of primary types. The best Fire- and Electric-types, as well as the lone non-Legendary Ground-type in such runs all have Normal typing as well. But otherwise I can avoid like typings.
