At least SM had a decent campaign, even if it was something of a one-and-done affair, as opposed to previous games which had potentially limitless replayability. You can replay the game as much as you like with different teams, but it all feels the same somehow. It's a very slow game, slower than the original DP, even, and that drains a lot of the enthusiasm out of the experience on repeat playhtroughs.
Mutliplayer is fine; about on par with everything else that isn't XY before it or SWSH after, but the experience is about on par because many of the expedited processes that streamlined the preparation that were introduced in XY were scrapped for no reason and were replaced with inferior alternatives.
Neither XY nor SWSH have a compelling game to them, and even USUM is basically a slightly altered romhack with a weaker campaign, a couple of new UBs, new forms for legends, and a some new ways of catching older monsters, with basically nothing else.
SM is the best of nu-Pokémon, but that's about it.
