I voted a six. In a vacuum, they're not bad games. If they were my first Pokemon games, I'd probably have given them a 8 or 9 even. But I've been playing since the start and they're just not up to the standards set by the other games, and they're lacking compared to other console games even. They have serious flaws, but I still enjoyed playing Shield enough to also play Sword, so I can't give them a bad score either. For me, the future of the franchise will be settled by a mix of the enhanced version release and the next generation. I hope the DPPt remakes are better, but I can't judge the franchise off of the remakes either, given that most of their development would have been from before Sw/Sh released.
