>>42129243>RBY and GSC have better stories because it's hardly there.That's a non-sequitor. You can say it benefits the gameplay more to have minimal story, but you can't say the story is better when it has essentially no plot, no character arcs, no theming and the bare minimum of narrative thrust.
I actually hate the story in RBY because it's 90% obstacles. Sorry, you can't go down this path because the gym leader hasn't given you a badge yet. Sorry, you can't go through this town because Team Rocket is fucking around and you have to go stop them. All of the writing is solely dedicated to being obnoxious.
I can totally understand why someone would want to mash through all the dialogue in SuMo. It's not high art and it wastes time that you'd rather spend catching pokémon. But in no way is it worse than the tedious, meaningless bullshit from the older games. If you're going to have plot and characters at all, you should develop them.
