I guess New Zealand is OK. Double islands which means that one island could be the main island and the other postgame island. Most likely south island is main island due to it being bigger. Maybe the championship could be held in north island so you can see bits and pieces of post game. I'm guessing if starting on bottom most part, there could be ice types due to the cold temperatures.

Yes, especially since I can take from the lore of other places to expand on the level design.

I first made the region in 2002 and between my knowledge from living here for over 3 decades and some deeper dives on specific towns/cities/areas as I've been updating it all recently, the more I deep dive on specific places the more I come away with that not only makes what I wanted to do, fit better or differently but in a cool way, it makes the region feel far less tourist trap than Gen 5 through have been.

God I fucking hate how they mostly just feel like the places were designed after a week vacation of doing nothing but going on guided tours.

Region: Ontario, Canada
MC lives in a city based off of Toronto. Your parents have never left the city and are afraid of the wilderness so you never got to leave either.

Basically you decide to explore and backpack through "Ontario" exploring the vast wilderness inbetween towns and cities. Each town you go to you complete side quests/battles/challenges from the Gym Leader of that area.

Victory Road: To reach the Elite Four you must travel north through forests, tundra and caves. The big difference is you must prepare for this excursion and stock up at the pokemart with supplies and choose 12 pokemon to accompany you. Each town is a checkpoint that you can refuel at, but during this these treks there's hardly any trainers to get money from and there's a lot of wild encounters (unless you use repel). From there the elite four is the same old thing.

Bonus: The lakes are your bonus areas for legendaries and mythicals. The contain dive spots and little islands like Hoenn.

They've already done 2 US games, but I think a midwestern Pokemon region would be cool. Sprawling cities, open plains, mountainous areas, forests, swamps. Could make for a really nice exploration and adventure based game.

Since that Australia seems to be pretty overused at this point, I'd figured that I would just do a map based on my state, Victoria.

The region itself would probably have 3 wild areas, each dedicated to a core environment with multiple variants of the said environment around the area.

Melbourne itself would likely to serve as a major hub of the entire region, functioning as the player's town/home, gym and league. It'll probably end up being split into four sections, one section for player's home, the gyms and the league. You'll probably won't get to explore the majority of Melbourne in the first few hours in playing through the region.

The Gyms in Victoria region are very similar to Galar's Gyms, although they don't feature Dynamax in their battles. But instead, they often play with gimmicks that really test the player's strength, which is typically done in Major League. However, you would have to beat a Minor League which are located in the smaller towns or cities in order to get into the Major League. The Minor Leagues are much simpler and easier to get around, which they only focus on types. There are about 8 Major Gyms and 6 Minor Gyms.

I do wonder how deep they could go with other countries. Galar was VERY British. Especially in the talking, every sentence most characters said were jam packed with Britishisms.

The "Japanese futurism" of Pokémon (the strong bond between technology and nature) is the connecting part of all Pokémon games, which has worked well enough in all the regions so far, especially in Galar I think, but it might be a bit more difficult to work in some countries without making them feel too distant from the source.

Any country could make a good region with competent game devs. The actual regions themselves never reflect the actual geography of the countries they’re based upon because of the need for specific biomes that may or may not exist there to allow for certain kinds of Pokémon, and they don’t ever reflect any real world culture to any meaningful degree. If you had good game devs making an actually good Pokémon game the country that the map is based on doesn’t matter.

Looks good so far! I'm from 321 so can't really help with panhandle, except Lofty Pursuits in Tallahassee would be cool to base a battle restaurant on if you're planning anything like that. Their youtube channel showing them making candy and info-dumping related topics like the history of a flavor or why the sugar behaves in certain ways has blown up so they're pretty well known. And the whole candy/ice cream/toy store theme could make for a really fun fairy gym.

The Wadden would be a cool area, we have some cool forests and the mine region in Limburg would make for some interesting dungeons, but other than that it would be pretty boring and very flat.

I feel that Taiwan would be a fucking awesome region for Pokemon though, visited there once.

For instance, start in Taipei. Would be nice to start in a big city for once. Lots of trainers you can find at all the night markets and stuff. First gym could be there as well. Then you can go to the Beitou area, with geysers and hot springs and everything.

Keeling could be a gym less city, and then you can make Jiufen an awesome ghost town with gym. Go back to Taipei and explore the whole west coast, with a stop at Alishan as a huge forest. Do something with the Buddha area around Kaohsiung, then make a beach area around Kenting, go back to Kaohsiung for gym 5 or 6.

After that the real adventure starts and you can explore the mountainous eastern region, with an awesome park around Taitung. The legendary Pokemon could be around Sun Moon lake and you get the option to go back from an earlier city or take a harder, more challenging route from where you are right now. Then Hualien where the final gym is, before this there is a huge dungeon in Taroko Gorge. To get to the Pokemon League you go back to Taroko Gorge and take a different tough route.

For Post game you have the whole center region, some options outside of Kaohsiung, Yilan and a few islands. Would be awesome

The region itself should primarily have the country of origins, so the region should show this, then freedom of movement would expand on the inspiration.

I don't know, Sweden is to same-y to be really interesting, I feel like there would be an abundance of forest routes and to few locations to do something interesting with. Though I guess they could just slap a desert or volcano werever they like. They can go full ham on the biomes if they want. Britain is a lot less diverse than Sweden, but they still had deserts in Galar. The biome and theme for Scania and South Sweden could be middle eastern with deserts and oases, Öland and Gotland as tropical islands, East Middle Sweden and North Middle Sweden more or less as it is, maybe a bit more temperate. Northern Sweden can be left as it is, maybe a bit more icy and snowy up in the most northern parts.

I would have liked routes through canyons and the mountains, honestly. If it was redone this gen, there would definitely be a lot more they could do in terms of biodiversity. Also more emphasis on mining, because there are a lot of precious metals mining operations around here.

Well the statue has 6 limbs and no wings along with being weirdly shaped so there's that. Could have some theme related to a sheep filled with sulfur or drinking a lot of water. Maybe a signature move where it spits out a sheep shaped Fire Blast

I mean, I know there's some diversity but wherever I go in Sweden aside from Like Öland, all I see is mossy pine forests with varying degrees of rain. Lund and Skåne in general has some nice flatlands and beech tree forests but that's basically denmark so. Now that I think about it, a ghost town based on how they had to move Kiruna for mining purposes would be really cool. Maybe make it like Po town and have the evil team take residence there?
